    1/6 PLATE AMBROTYPE BY REHN, PHILA., SCARCE "DEER AND DOE" THERMOPLASTIC CASE.
    This 1/6 plate ambrotype is of a cute young child with lightly tinted cheeks, seated on a carved wooden chair. The mat is RARE: stamped "AMBROTYPE BY REHN" and "PATENT JULY 4th & 11th, 1854." Isaac Rehn was active from 1851 to 1860 in Philadelphia. He is credited with making the first ambrotype in the United States. It is in a scarce case called "The Deer and the Pine Tree" or "Deer and Doe." The condition of the case is near mint.
