    Description

    Antique c1860s original 1/9 plate ruby Ambrotype of a dapper gentleman with tinted cheeks in a fashionable, almost houndstooth pattern, vest.  The Ambrotype is housed behind glass in a 1/9 plate Civil War themed
    Union Now And Forever
    copper frame with embossed text at the base and images of a cannon, drum and American flags.  Ambrotype comes housed in a period leather wrapped 1/9 plate case with red velvet interior.
    Provenance comes from a central Massachusetts area estate.
    In Good/As Found overall condition.  Ambrotype and copper casing are clean, crisp, bright and vibrant with no visible wear or damage; very well preserved.  Case shows only gentle wear to the leatherette but is split into two at the hinge.  Retains original brass clasp which is fully functional.
    Ambrotype measures 2 1/2” x 2”.  Case measures 3” x 2 1/2” x 3/4” thick.
