    Description

RARE 1/8 CDV THERMOPLASTIC UNION CASE - CIVIL WAR LADY - IN MINT MINUS CONDITION -
Attention all you Civil War collectors will soon recognize this case which was commonly used for images of soldiers, however, this case contains an attractive tintype of a Civil War lady in her commonly seen type of dress worn during the same period. She looks a bit forlorn as though she is concerned or worried about her brother, husband or father out on the battlefield. The super rare CDV size case is almost mint condition with square corners, tight hinges and a solid velvet pillow. The only issue is the clasp system is missing and the case does not snap securely, but will display perfectly.
The case also included the preserver, mat and cover glass. As a seasoned thermoplastic case collector, I can easy say that CDV cases such as this one don't surface to the market very often. The case lists in Paul Berg's bible on 19th Century photo cases for 0.00 alone. Good luck to my winning bidder.
